Revanth To Reduce Districts In Telangana?

Telangana region used to have 10 districts in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. After the bifurcation, the KCR-led BRS government increased the number to 33. If the latest reports are anything to go by, the current Congress government, led by Revanth Reddy, is planning to reduce the districts to 17.

As per reports, Revanth is planning to re-divide the districts based on 17 parliamentary constituencies. If this rule is implemented, Asifabad, Normal, Jagityal, Mancherial, Siddipet, Sircilla, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jangaon, Suryapet, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Bhupalapally would lose their district status.

Meanwhile, a section of people argue that the delimitation of districts would badly affect the state. They opined that every department in each district should be divided once again and the maps should be redesigned.

The agricultural land prices in the canceled districts would drop big, affecting farmers. Even the real estate would be affected badly. The government officials should be transferred and the system would be in shackles once again.

The current government buildings in new districts would be of no use. The zonal system should be changed in the government exams, leading to a delay of more than two years. Citing all these aspects, many people are opposing the idea of re-dividing districts in the state.
